Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about partnering with Kimotho & Associates from abroad—from communication protocols and invoicing currencies to onboarding timelines.

How do we engage remotely if our headquarters are located outside Kenya? +

We operate a seamless virtual engagement model designed for global entities, multinationals, and foreign investors. All communications, financial reviews, and strategic consultations are conducted via secure video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet).

Document exchange and financial data processing take place through encrypted, cloud-based client portals, ensuring strict confidentiality, ISO-compliant data security, and real-time collaboration regardless of your geographic location.

In what currencies do you bill, and how are international payments processed? +

To accommodate our international client base, we offer flexible cross-border billing arrangements. Invoices can be structured in US Dollars (USD), Euros (EUR), British Pounds (GBP), or Kenyan Shillings (KES).

Payments can be remitted conveniently via international wire transfer (SWIFT), direct SWIFT/IBAN banking channels, or secure digital corporate payment platforms. Fee structures are agreed upon upfront in your preferred currency to protect against FX volatility.

How long does the client onboarding process take? +

Standard onboarding for new advisory or outsourced accounting engagements typically takes 3 to 5 business days following the execution of our Engagement Letter.

Our streamlined 3-step onboarding workflow includes:

  • KYC & Regulatory Compliance: Rapid remote verification of company documentation and ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO).
  • System & Portal Setup: Provisioning secure cloud portal access and integrating with your ERP or accounting software.
  • Kick-Off & Transition: A dedicated kick-off call with your Lead Partner to align on deliverables, reporting schedules, and key contacts.
How do you manage time zone differences with international management teams? +

Our office is located in Nairobi, Kenya (East Africa Time: UTC+3 / EAT). This location offers an ideal bridge across international business hours:

  • Europe, Middle East, & UK: Significant overlap during standard core business hours.
  • Asia & APAC: Full morning overlap for real-time collaboration.
  • Americas (EST/CST/PST): Dedicated morning/afternoon sync windows tailored to your local schedule.

For urgent advisory matters, deal transactions, or financial reporting deadlines, our senior partners and client success leads maintain flexible availability outside standard operating hours.

Can you help foreign companies setting up operations in Kenya with local tax and legal compliance? +

Yes. We specialize in cross-border entity structuring, foreign direct investment (FDI) advisory, and full-scope tax compliance for overseas corporations expanding into East Africa.

Our services include corporate entity registration, setting up KRA tax accounts (PIN, VAT, PAYE), managing local payroll, transfer pricing documentation, and statutory audit compliance to ensure complete alignment with Kenyan law.
